Buying guides
Short, practical answers to the questions people ask before buying a coffee machine.
Which type of coffee machine?
Bean-to-cup machines grind fresh beans and brew at the touch of a button. Espresso machines give you more control over grinding, tamping and milk, but take practice. Pod and capsule machines are the simplest and tidiest, at a higher cost per cup. Filter machines brew larger batches of black coffee.
Steam wand or automatic milk?
A steam wand lets you texture milk yourself for latte art and flat whites, but needs a little skill. An automatic milk system draws milk from a jug or carafe and froths it for you. If you mostly drink black coffee, you may not need either.
Why the exact model matters
Coffee machines are often sold in several near-identical versions: different colours, bundles, or model numbers with small changes. We only compare prices for the exact same model and configuration, matched by barcode or manufacturer model number, so you are always comparing like for like.
How our price comparison works
We list the UK retailers we can verify for each exact machine. When one retailer sells it, we say where it is available. When several do, we show them side by side, and we only call a price the lowest listed price when every delivery cost is known. Always check the final price at the retailer before buying.
